Obituary

Vincenzo Scolaro, 95, of Lafayette passed away Sunday, December 2, 2018, at Newton Medical Center.
Vincenzo was born in Bristol, RI, and raised in Pawtucket, RI where he lived until his discharge from the military. He served as a Sargent in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. Vincenzo worked as a Boiler Engineer for Richardson Chemical Co. for 25 years prior to his retirement in 1985.
Vincenzo was an avid motorcycle enthusiast, he especially enjoyed Harley Davidsons. He was a member of the Christian Riders Motorcycle Club and he loved wood-working, a hobby he mastered over the years. Vincenzo created many master pieces through his wood-working skills, whether it be transforming standard door frames into beautiful archways, building hand-carved cabinets or hiding air conditioners with elaborate door panels, his talent was nothing shy of extraordinary.
Vincenzo was predeceased by his parents, Placido and Maria (nee Ruvolo) Scolaro; and his beloved wife of 60 years, Antoinette Scolaro. He is survived by his daughters, Mary Campbell and husband, Jeff, of Lafayette and Sandra Lee Caywood of Hawthorne; four grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and his brother, Placido “Bill” Scolaro and wife, Barbara, of Cranston, RI.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 4, 2018, at the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St, Newton. Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 5, 2018, at the funeral home, followed by interment in Sparta Presbyterian Methodist Cemetery, in Sparta.
