Obituary

Shawn R. Ostendorf, 49, of Westfield, died Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at his mother's home in Green Township. Born on July 4th, 1969, in Livingston, Shawn grew up in Newark and was a graduate of St. Peter's Prep in Jersey City. He moved to Cranford in 2007 and lived in Nutley before moving to Westfield. He served a five-year apprenticeship with United Association Plumbers Local 24, then worked as a plumber and teacher for Local 24. Shawn then moved on to teaching and drafting CAD (Computer Aided Design), most recently with Binsky & Snyder in Piscataway. He was a member of the Tri-State MK7 Volkswagen Owners Club.

The son of the late Dorence "Ozzie" Ostendorf, Shawn was also predeceased by his nephew, Zayn. He is survived by his son, Kevin M. Ostendorf and Laiza Tambo, their children, Aria and Ian, of Kearny; his mother, Sandi Newsome and husband, Pat, of Green Township; his sister, Desiree Calabrese, her fiance, Henry Yates, and his nieces, Sara and Emma, of Scotch Plains; his sister, Heather Bonney, husband, Matthew, and his niece, Mattison, of Wantage Township; and his wife, Mary Elizabeth Bellini of Red Bank.

Visitation will be held Monday, April 1, 2019, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High Street, Newton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2019, at St. Joseph R.C. Church, 24 Halsted Street, Newton.
