Patricia M. Ahern, 92, of Sparta, died Wednesday, January 30, 2019, at Bentley Assisted Living in Frankford Twsp.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, Patricia grew up in South Ozone Park Queens. In 1996 she moved to Forest Hill NY. In 2008 she moved to Sussex County residing at the Abeloar in Newton and one year later moving to the Hamlet in Sparta. She worked as a VIP passenger liaison for 25 years for Irish Airlines (Air Lingus) at JFK, before her retirement in 1991. She enjoyed traveling across the US and Europe frequently, having been to Ireland numerous times. She enjoyed scrabble and never missed her evening show of Jeopardy. She always completed three major newspaper crosswords daily. She was the family historian and knew everything about everyone, their child’s names, birthdays, ages and what was going on in their lives. Patricia enjoyed going to Mass, was active in her church and the Columbiette’s.

Daughter of the late George and Matilda (nee Williams) Collins, Patricia was predeceased by husband, John G. Ahern, on July 12, 1994; being the last of seven she is predeceased by four brothers, George, Erwin, Eugene, and Donald Collins; and her two sisters, Helen Collins and Constance Joan Adams. She is survived by and affectionally known to her 10 nieces and 8 nephews, as “Aunt Patsy” and AKA "The World's Greatest Aunt".

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 5, 2019, at 1:30 p.m., at the Calverton National Cemetery, 210 Princeton Blvd., Calverton, NY. A visitation will be held Monday, February 4, 2019, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., at the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High Street Newton, NJ 07860.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 400 Morris Ave., Suite 103, Denville, NJ 07834. Online condolences may be offered at www.smithmccrackenfuneralhome.com.
