Obituary

Jack Teel Harris, 83, of Andover Township, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 27, 2018, at the Karen Ann Quinlan Home for Hospice in Fredon Township.
Born in Newton to the late Arthur B. and Maude (nee Teel) Harris, Jack was a lifelong Sussex County resident. He was a graduate of Newton High School and attended Robert’s Technical & Trade School for diesel mechanics. Jack proudly served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955 and was the owner/operator of Husky Truck & Trailer Repair in Mt. Arlington for 35 years prior to his retirement.

Jack was a member of the Branchville Businessmen and Christ Episcopal Church in Newton. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking the Kittatinny mountains and visiting the Adirondacks. Jack had an infectious smile and a positive attitude, and more than anything else he loved spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, Jack was also predeceased by his sisters, Roberta Harris and Shirley Wagner. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Angie (nee Rosselli) Harris; his sons, Jack A. Harris of Fredon Township and Jason Harris and wife, Lisa, of Ogdensburg; his grandson, Jake Harris of Fredon Township; as well as many loved nieces and nephews.


Memorial Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, November 30, 2018, at the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High Street, Newton. Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 1, 2018, at the Christ Episcopal Church, 62 Main Street, Newton.
