Dale J. Maturi, 73, passed away on January 29, 2019, at the Karen Ann Quinlan home for Hospice, Fredon Twsp., New Jersey.

Dale is survived by her husband, Victor A. Maturi, her son, Victor J. Maurti (wife Leticia), of Staten Island, NY; her son, Frank A. Maturi (wife Lisa) of Port Monmouth, New Jersey; her granddaughter Ariana R. Maturi, Valentina L. Maturi, and Alejandra N. Maturi. She was predeceased in death by her brother, Frank Pickering.

Dale was born on May 8, 1945 in Staten Island, NY to parents Frank Pickering and Rose Edkins Pickering of Pelton Avenue, Staten Island, NY. She graduated from Curtis High School in 1963, and worked for Prudential Life Insurance prior to her marriage. Dale later worked at the family business, Staten Island Grinding Service as a bookkeeper. She also was a volunteer at the Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church in Andover Boro., NJ.

She married Victor in July 1965 at Sacred Heart Church in West Brighton Staten Island, NY. They lived on Roman Avenue, Graniteville, Staten Island, NY, where their sons where born. They later moved to Cranberry Lake, in Bryam Twsp., in 1985 where Dale, her parents and brother had vacationed since the 1950s. Dale & her husband converted the summer retreat to their year-round home.

Dale with her husband Vic shared a love of country music & they were often found at the “Top of the hill” in Bedminster, NJ meeting their friends and dancing. Dale enjoyed cooking for the family for holidays, birthdays, anniversaries; she was the center of the family’s universe. She loved the outdoors and nature, having her mile-long walk to buy the daily newspaper with a smile on her face.

Dale was a down-to-earth person who loved to live simply, was free of pretention, and never put on airs. She loved watching people have a good time. She also was an avid gardener. Some of her other hobbies included reading, and crossword puzzles. Dale was always full of energy until her sickness this past November.

A funeral mass will be held at Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church, 48 Tranquility Road (RT 517), Andover Boro., NJ 07821, 973-786-6631 on Friday February 1, 2019, at 11 a.m. with reception to follow at the church. Viewing will be at the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High Street Newton, NJ 07860, (973)-383-4600, on Thursday January 31, 2019, between 7-9 p.m.
