Obituary

Agnes A. Benenati, 87, of Hampton Township, passed away on Tuesday, January 15, 2019, at Forest Manor in Frelinghuysen Township.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Agnes moved to New Jersey at a young age. She lived in West Caldwell, then lived in Newton for four years before moving to Hampton Township in 1995. A former cashier at Burger King in Newton, Agnes enjoyed word searches, watching the Hallmark Channel, reading Reminisce Magazine and loved cherry vanilla ice cream. She was especially devoted to her family. Agnes enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, with whom she especially enjoyed making candy and reading.

The daughter of the late Warren and Mary Bryant, Agnes was also predeceased by her husband, Andrew Benenati, on October 13, 2011, and her great-granddaughter, Abigail Rodrigue. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Jean Kubala and husband, Paul, Andrea Lavertu and husband, William, and Angela Vealey and husband, Edward, Jr.; her five grandchildren, Jean Card, Jessica Rodrigue, Jennifer Kubala-Cooke and husband, Greg, Jeremy Lavertu and wife, Kelly Beth, and Genna Vealey; as well as her great-grandchildren, Leland, Aidan, Gregory, Jr., Aspen, Annabelle and Ashley.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2019, at St. Joseph R.C. Church in Newton. Interment will follow in Branchville Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 18, 2019, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High Street, Newton.
